DC Lead-Based Paint Hazard Notification

Have you received a notice of potential lead-based paint hazard from the District of Columbia Housing Authority? If so, we can help.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) requires landlords receiving housing assistance payments get an annual inspection for their rental properties. DCHA schedules the inspection and notifies each landlord of the date and time of the inspection. Landlords receive an inspection checklist of all issues found during the inspection. The checklist states the location of the hazard and includes the specific lead-based paint hazard, loose/peeling paint, in the comments. Lead hazards must be addressed by trained workers using safe work practices.

The next step is to have a certified DC clearance inspector conduct a test to ensure lead dust isn’t found on surfaces (floors and window sills). Call 240-760-1530 today to schedule your clearance test with a certified lead inspector.

Review the HCVP HQS Inspection Checklist if your inspection has not been scheduled yet. Know in advance what the HQS inspector will look for to avoid receiving any violations. Remember, you have 30 days to make the repairs or you risk losing your rental payments.
